Escape the Heat / Untouched English Coast
Its tipped to hit almost 30˚ in Central London this weekend so there is nothing else for it than to skip outta town and hit the coast.
Now having spent the summers on the beaches of Long Island to escape the sweltering heat of NYC, I yearn for those long sandy beaches and the vibe that goes with it.
Since living in London I’ve dedicated alot of time to finding an equivalent escape. I have yet to discover The Hamptons equivalent. An important part of the criteria is not to spend hours sitting in traffic with everyone else heading to the same neck of the woods.
So after many long hot rides to Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Norfolk, we discovered beautiful, untouched Suffolk. Its an easy-ish escape from our part of London. Gorgeous countryside. Great food. Great coast. Best of all relatively empty. ssshhh everyone else is in Cornwall or neighbouring Norfolk.
Its got an elegant historic coast, part of which has been designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' to see more lovely images and read more about this visit Suffolk Coast & Heaths Thankfully there isnt an amusement arcade or candy-floss in sight.
The countryside is breathtaking. Gentle rolling hills and cute English cottages festooned at the this time of year with scented roses. So far this reason we stay inland and enjoy the lush countryside and cool clean air, with daytimes spent on the sandy beaches.
