Party Time Gatsby Style / The Jazz Age
This weekend we will be attending a very special party for a very special friends birthday party. They are an extraordinaire couple, amazingly creative, so I am in no doubt that the party will be too. The theme is 1920s.The venue and all the guests will be dressed accordingly. I’m so excited!!
Inspiration hasnt been hard to find as its a massive trend for AW12. Thanks mainly to the imminent release of Baz Luhrmann’s remake of The Great Gatsby. 1920s inspired looks have been hitting the runway for sometime now. The high street is brimming with flapper dresses and fringing. Asos, Topshop and River Island are worth a mention, with limited edition numbers and collaborations with designers.
I have gone for a very classic 1920s look but with a slight twist. The drop-waist dress, from Ted Baker Maree - it ticks all the boxes - drop waist, gold embellished detail, yet subtle and elegant, so that you can layer it up with the other essential items like some mega statement earrings. This is the twist, I have gone for this pair from Mawi on Calvert Avenue. These are boldly modern yet have a subtle nostalgic detailing. I’m totally lusting after the Gucci Gold Heels, the peep toe is just so naughty and suggestive. I’ll let you know if I track down a similar pair on the high street.
Any 1920s look would not be complete without some Pearls & Fur Stole, which I have raided from my Mum’s wardrobe as well as a pair of gloves. Red Lips are essential. Check out 3 Custom Color in Ballet Russe its the perfect shade of red hot! Available from Cult Beauty
This 1920s Great Gatsby look is going to be around for a while, so if you do decide to invest. You will get lots of wear out of it over Christmas. It makes the perfect New Years Eve party look too - all those pearls, fur and red lips ;)
Its gonna be a swell night Doll! Thank you for inviting us!!
